Περιγραφή:

Το έργο “Women on Board” στοχεύει στην αύξηση της εκπροσώπησης των γυναικών στη γαλάζια οικονομία, μέσω της ανάπτυξης και της ανταλλαγής στρατηγικών για την υπέρβαση των έμφυλων ανισορροπιών.

Η Πρόκληση

Οι γυναίκες υποεκπροσωπούνται σε κρίσιμο βαθμό στη γαλάζια οικονομία, σε τομείς όπως η ναυτιλία, η θαλάσσια μηχανική, η αλιεία και η λιμενική εφοδιαστική (logistics), αποτελώντας μόλις το 29% του εργατικού δυναμικού στην Ευρώπη και μόλις το 2% των ναυτικών. Αυτό το έμφυλο χάσμα περιορίζει την πρόσβαση των γυναικών σε ποιοτική απασχόληση, ενισχύει τα έμφυλα στερεότυπα και περιορίζει τις προοπτικές του κλάδου για καινοτομία και ανάπτυξη χωρίς αποκλεισμούς. Οι ηγετικοί ρόλοι παραμένουν ανδροκρατούμενοι, με τη συμμετοχή των γυναικών στα διοικητικά συμβούλια να ανέρχεται κατά μέσο όρο μόλις στο 25%. Η έλλειψη πολιτικών συμπερίληψης, στοχευμένης εκπαίδευσης και ασφαλών, υποστηρικτικών χώρων εργασίας συνεχίζει να διαιωνίζει αυτές τις ανισότητες στις παράκτιες περιοχές, υπονομεύοντας τόσο την κοινωνική ισότητα όσο και την αποτελεσματικότητα της γαλάζιας οικονομίας.

Η Καινοτομία

Το έργο “Women on Board” αντιμετωπίζει τις συστημικές έμφυλες ανισότητες στη γαλάζια οικονομία, προωθώντας περιφερειακές πολιτικές μεταρρυθμίσεις χωρίς αποκλεισμούς και ενισχύοντας την πρόσβαση των γυναικών στην κατάρτιση και την απασχόληση. Ο κύριος στόχος του είναι η γεφύρωση του έμφυλου χάσματος στους τομείς της ναυτιλίας, των θαλάσσιων δραστηριοτήτων και της γαλάζιας οικονομίας, υποστηρίζοντας τις ευρωπαϊκές περιφέρειες στην ανάπτυξη και εφαρμογή αποτελεσματικών στρατηγικών. Μέσω της διαπεριφερειακής συνεργασίας, το “Women on Board” προσδιορίζει βέλτιστες πρακτικές και δημιουργεί προσαρμοσμένα σχέδια δράσης για τη μείωση των εμποδίων, τη βελτίωση της ασφάλειας στον εργασιακό χώρο και την προώθηση της ισότιμης συμμετοχής.

Women on Board aims to increase the representation of women in the blue economy by developing and sharing strategies to overcome gender imbalances.

Challenge

Women are critically underrepresented in the blue economy, sectors such as shipping, marine engineering, fisheries, and port logistics, accounting for only 29% of the workforce in Europe and just 2% of seafarers. This gender gap limits women’s access to quality employment, reinforces gender stereotypes, and restricts the sector’s potential for innovation and inclusive growth.

Leadership roles remain male-dominated, with women averaging only 25% board representation. The lack of inclusive policies, targeted training, and safe, supportive workplaces continues to perpetuate these inequalities across coastal regions, undermining both social equity and the effectiveness of the blue economy.

Innovation

Women on Board addresses systemic gender disparities in the blue economy by promoting inclusive regional policy reforms and enhancing women’s access to training and employment. Its main objective is to close the gender gap in maritime, marine, and blue economy sectors by supporting European regions in developing and implementing effective strategies. Through interregional cooperation, Women on Board identifies best practices and creates tailored action plans to reduce barriers, improve workplace safety, and foster equal participation.

• At least 48 Regional Multistakeholder Group (RMSG) meetings involving local actors to identify needs, co-create solutions, and support policy improvements.
